I prefer to use a mouse rather than the touchpad. So a long time ago I used fn+f7 to disable it.
Earlier this week I discovered the cursor was flying about all over the place and activating somewhere other than where I was typing and clicking on unwanted links!!
I then realised that the touchpad was working and fn+f7 wasn't de-activating it.
After much Googling I found I none of the other methods I discovered appeared to work either. Then I found this PCW option
1. Click Start.
2. Type device manager into the Search box. In the Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices.
Look for your mouse in the Device Manager, to disable its touchpad.
3. Right-click the touchpads entry. In the menu that pops up, click Disable.
4. Confirm your choice in the pop-up window.
Then Scotty came up with a warning that I'd changed the Start-up so I selected Discard the changes (or however they phrased it).
I covered the touchpad with a thick so my hand doesn't operate it when I'm typing.
This morning. Scotty again told me I'd made a change to Start Up. I checked the touchpad and it was still working. Looked at the Device Manager and Elan was still there.
So... now my question is ... how do I find out what I changed? All seems to be working as normal, so I'm confused about what I did.
