Have decided to do a bit of patch working near my home in Hurstpierpoint, I haven't really done local birding before mainly sticking to nature reserves or other areas such as the coast or the Downs ,I shall still do these obviously just a bit less often.
I have managed to find an area close to home ,approx 5 mins in the car which has a variety of habitat which should be conducive to finding something of interest. With a few visits under our belts we have seen amongst others, Bullfinch, Spot Fly, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Green and Great Spotted Woodpecker, Buzzard, Kestrel and Sprawk, plenty of Yellowhammers plus plenty of the commoner species Tits ,Finches etc the habitat also looks ok to provide some interest throughout the year, I will post updates on this thread while I maintain the enthusiasm which may not be long
