Gadwall x Mallard or...? (SoCal)

Hey all,
Found this duck yesterday at a local lake in San Diego county. My first impression was Gadwall x Mallard hybrid, or just another weird domestic-type Mallard (there were a few in the same area.)

It sort of looks like Gadwall X Mallard, but if there were several like this, maybe they're domestic.

Ducks can be so tricky...

edit: After more searching, I am pretty sure it's a Gadwall X Mallard, sometimes called Brewer's Duck. I found a nearly identical duck via Google.

Agree with the ID, a Mallard x Gadwall or vice versa instead the unsubstantiated Brewer's Duck.
