Hi, I am off to South Africa for three weeks, and am takeing a laptop with me. Can anyone tell me how I can plug in to a hotel phone and then find an ISP that can connect me?
Regards Lorne

Hi Lorne.

What ISP do you use at home, there may be a dial-in number available?

Do you have a wireless card, have you checked if your hotel(s) are internet or wireless enabled?

Cheers,

Andy.

Andy, I have been with V21 for about 5 years, I think they could be part of a larger company.
The laptop has a 'WIFI' card but when I did a Google on South Africa it looks only 7 hotspots in the whole country! something like 5 in Joberg and 2 in Capetown, I think they are trying to protect jobs in telecoms!

Do you know which hotels you will be staying in? They may have internet access available via their own infrastructure, either wired or wireless - worth trying to check that out first, you may find you'll be covered for part of your stay, perhaps even with free access ...
