Monday September 20, 2004
Three GADWALL DUCKS were seen at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.

Sunday September 19:
A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen along Prideaux Street in Nanaimo.
12 Double crested Cormorants, 2 Common Loons, 11 Surfscoters, 4 Northern Flickers, 4 Stellars Jays, 20 Juncos, 20 Chestnut backed Chickadees, 1 White crowned Sparrow, 1 Golden crowned Sparrow, 1 Coopers Hawk, 13 House Finch,
5 Red breasted Nuthatches, 15 Pine Siskins and 2 Towhees were seen in Cedar by the Sea

Sunday Bird Walk: Nanoose Bay
Observers: Twelve Sunday birders
Highlights: Two Greater Yellowlegs dropped in on the tide line, landing
not ten feet from us for close looks, as they talked and pumped their tails.
A Peregrine Falcon in full chase appeared from above the eastern trees.
It passed over us and swooped down over the church camp and turned and
headed straight up and away to the west. A very exliterating show

Saturday September 18:
Six AMERICAN PIPITS, two SAVANNAH SPARROWS and one LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER were seen near the 8th Fairway at Fairwinds Golf Course in Nanoose Bay.
35 AMERICAN PIPITS, one YELLOW WARBLER, one GREATER SCAUP, BLACK, SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and one COOPERS HAWK were seen at the Nanoose Estuary.

Tuesday September 14:
Five RING-BILLED GULLS, 12 AMERICAN PIPITS, one SHARP-SHINNED HAWK and two SANDHILL CRANES were seen at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was seen along the Cable Bay Trail in Cedar.

Sunday September 12:
A juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER was spotted about 100 meters offshore heading southeast at Neck Point Park in Nanaimo.
14 Western Grebes were seen close to the shore at Nile Road south of Bowser.

This Sunday Bird walk on September 26, will be going to the Englishman River Estuary, Shelly Road side. Meet at the store at 8:30 am or at the bottom of Shelly Road in Parksville at about 9:00 am
