Local customs or something more sinister? (1 Viewer)

Several years ago I was wandering around the back lanes of a small country village in Lancashire and came across a farm surrounded by barbed wire fencing. Close to the farmhouse somebody had pinned up a large collection of moles, voles, mice and several crows to the barbs in the fencing.

Initially I didn't think too much of it - probably some sort of country custom originating from years of inbreeding, however perhaps there was a more sinister purpose?

It was a gamekeeper's gibbet.

They hang up their spoils to show the boss how hard they are working.

Nirofo has several pictures showing this.
