Ring-billed Gull With No Ring? - Eastern Ontario, Canada (1 Viewer)

Shot today in eastern Ontario, Canada, all I've ever seen around here are ring-billed gulls, but this gull had no ring around its bill. Is this some other kind of gull?

This bird is much larger than a Common or Mew Gull, a real powerful brute. One of the Herring Gull complex.

It's a(n American) Herring Gull.

Ditto to American Herring Gull. Not sure what it's trying to eat, though! Some large mammal or other.

Yep, my vote is also for American Herring Gull. Yellow eyes and the dusky shading on the head of a winter plumage bird.

Thanks, everyone, and I could believe a small muskrat or rodent of some kind. Definitely an animal since it had fur. I think it eventually gave up trying to consume it.
