Old World = Grey
New World = Gray

Not sure if they're in both areas though!

Yeah no I know - they're in both areas though. Found an interesting tidbit on the page actually:
One of the most elusive of birds, the Great Gray was discovered in America by Europeans before they realized that the species also occurs in Europe.
 
I think the consensus was to stick with "grey" for any species with a substantial distribution in the Old World- which this one clearly is.
