This Green Woodpecker appeared in the back-garden this morning:

I learnt from another site that it is a young female, and it's very likely she's moving away from her natal area for the first time, and so is probably passing through. Never seen one before and I've been here 11 years. I live in Highgate so I wonder if it was from Hampstead Heath or Highgate Cemetery.

There was an incredible racket this morning being kicked up by the two local Jays, more than I've ever heard - is it probable this bird was the cause?
 
Perhaps! Although Jays will kick off over anything (Squirrells cats people etc) I did see some Crows and Magpies getting a little distressed over a Great Spotted the other day, so maybe the Jays didnt like yours.
