have an aol/bt adsl modem. Daughter broke lead yesterday bought new lead today, got home wrong lead. Fits in back of modem but does not fit into adsl filter to phone socket. took filter out and connected modem direct to telephone socket. Internet is working hence post. But not using filter, what effect will this have.

John,

Without the filter you won't be able to simultaneously surf the net & use your phone.

The cable you need is RJ11 - RJ11, don't forget that all devices that plug into the phone sockets need filtering inc. set top boxes, faxes and all exstension sockets that have phones connected
