Best way to protect a new bird table? (1 Viewer)

Can anyone recommend a wood protector or preservative that will be safe for use on a new table? I've heard that teak oil is good but wanted to get some opinions before I use anything.

I'd like something that leaves a clear finish, rather than a stain. Basically I want to keep the table in good condition for as long as possible - I've never had one before and wonder whether buying a new table each year or two is something I will just have to do, or if they can be kept in good condition indefinitely.

Thanks.
