My cat decided to destroy an entire nest of robins today. The nest was completely pulled to the ground and ripped apart and all but one fledgling unfortunately died. I currently have the alive bird in a box in my room. It’s very strong and from looking at it, seems unharmed. It’s definitely in shock and I haven’t had the chance to feed it, it becomes very vocal and jumps out the box when i try. I dont want to stress it out any more so I’ve left it alone for now but i am concerned about when I’ll be able to feed it, and what I’ll be able to feed it.
There are no places around where i live that will take baby birds in, my cat does this every year and no places are ever willing to take the birds in. I’ve never had him bring a robin home before, so im a bit stuck!! Im currently im college on an animal care course, so on Monday im going to ask my teacher for some adivce, but for now I would like some advice on what to temporarily do with this robin. I’ve read online so many different things to feed it, i only have mealworms, wet and dry cat food available. If anyone knows what I should do, please tell me!!
