Pelagic bird book for the East coast USA?

Hi BF

I am taking a pelagic trip on the east coast around Virginia, can any one recommend a book that covers and helps identify pelagic birds for the east coast in the USA?

Thanks,
Carlos

Any of the standard field guides for North America, such as Sibley or National Geographic, will cover all of the species you are likely to see. The two guides by Harrison cover all of the pelagic species in the world, more or less, so you will spend time looking at illustrations of unlikely species, and their taxonomy is somewhat dated, but they are still the standard references for seabirds. The guide by Tove is nice because it also includes marine mammals. See this site for references:

Good luck on your trip.
