Hi

Having a caravan holiday near Battle UK. Apart from Dungeness, has anyone got any recommendations for good birding?

Thanks Julie

Try Rye harbour https://sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/visit/rye-harbour and also the pools at Pett Level are nearby.

Also if the ringing station is in operation, Beachy Head is another location but it may be too early for much around the Hollow until the end of the month. The whole area between Beachy Head and Seaford head has a mix of good birding and places to visit.

Inland Bewl Water may hold something.

Keep an eye on local sightings at https://www.sos.org.uk/recent-sightings

Another vote for Rye Harbour and Pett Level. Beachy Head is worth seeing even without the birding aspect.

Beckley Forest holds a good selection of woodland birds, unfettered access via various Forestry Commission gateways with space to park a car without blocking them. Fallow Deer, typical woodland small mammals and Wild Boar though these last are very difficult to see at that site - Forest of Dean much better.

Great birding at Rye - thanks for the idea :)

Is this a Common Sandpiper? Had a great view!
