Hello!

Up until a couple of weeks ago I paid very little attention to birds apart from a special fondness for blackbirds (Turdus Merula) dating from the years I lived in London hearing them dialogue in song from one roof to another. Yes, I could recognise sparrows, pigeons, gulls (grew up overlooking Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro) and birds common in Brazil such as bem-te-vi (Pitangus sulphurous), humming birds, toucans, macaws, various parrots.
I now live at the foot at the Acropolis and recently noticed a magpie picking at berries in one of my balcony planters. And I decided to put breadcrumbs out for whatever bird may appear and I now have daily visits from a dear little robin who makes my day, a greyish mystery bird who eats and flies off taking a large crumb to feed his young (I just found out it's a black redstart) and the greedy 'lumpen' (sparrows) who arrive 'en masse': I will post some pix.

Hi Alicia and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here. I look forward to hearing your news and maybe we'll be lucky enough to see some of your little friends in the Gallery too.

A big THANK YOU to Delia Todd, KC Foggin, Lisa W & Kits for the warm welcome. I joined about one month ago and it's been a privilege to be part of this group! I've posted a very few photos and wish I new how to thank each member for the kind, complimentary and encouraging comment.
