Albert's Towhee? No tail! (Nevada, USA) (1 Viewer)

We saw this little bird today in Henderson, NV (Las Vegas area).

It ran super fast across the ground, perched on a rock, and then flew off.

It looked like it just had a really short tail, but I'm trying to identify it and the closest bird I can find a match for is the Albert's Towhee. But the Albert's Towhee has a decent sized tail, and this little guy had no tail!

Any help? Is he missing his tail? I feel bad for it!
