Greetings for a part of the world that is not known for the most exotic birds, but we enjoy what we have|:d|.

I have been encouraging birds in my garden for the last few years and am now rewarded with a constant stream of birds, including many varieties of tits and finches (my favourite being goldfinches); and the occasional woodpeckers - and even a sparrow hawk last week. It helps living nearby to some woods.

I have some mystery birds that have been regular visitors for the last few weeks. The nearest I can get to identification is that they may be linnets, but they are very dull in colour. If I can work out how to add a photo I will do so, in the hope someone can set me right!

Hi purplesky and a warm welcome from me too

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I'll look forward to hearing all your news.

Welcome Essex...from Essex!...for your ''regular'' Linnets...might be worth checking out Lesser Redpolls?

cheers

Thanks everyone. Thanks also to KenM my fellow kinsman - I think you may have cracked it with you lesser redpoll suggestion. I've tried posting a photo, but this has failed probably because the image size exceeds the limits.

Cheers
