Kowa warrantly - in Europe (1 Viewer)

Italian Birder
Hello,
I'm going to buy a second-hand Kowa 883 Prominar scope. The tool is in very good conditions.
My only doubt is about the warrantly: is it transferable from the original buyer to me? How long is it valid, and from which unlucky events does it protect?
Thanks,
Firecrest

Hello Firecrest ,

As far as i know , whatever the goods you buy second-handly , if a warranty is still valid it is transferred from the seller to the buyer . But you must get and keep the ORIGINAL BILL and WARRANTY COUPON both mentionning the SERIAL NUMBER of the good .

I did recently buy a brand new KOWA 773 scope in ENO shop ( france )
Both my bill and and warranty certificate mention the scope serial number and the shop stamp ( name , adress etc ..)
The warranty in France is 10 years for a KOWA scope .
I guess it may be the same period in Italy . Do not hesiate to ask it to the Kowa appointed importer for Italy . Theorically the warranty coupon is issued by the Kowa importer in the name of Kowa .
This is the case for Medas Intruments - appointed Kowa importer in France and main dealer -

IMHO :Normally a warranty does cover the defects or misfunction due to manufacturing , mis-assembling ,..which the brand may be responsable of .
Any disfunction or defects due to the owner ( misusing , mishandling..) are not covered by the warranty ..
Theorically the user-manual must precise every points of caution of uses .
That to avoid that story of a grandmammy that suited a microvawe oven manufacturer (a got damages) after her cat was killed because she used the micro-wave oven to dry her cat . Of course the micro-wave oven usermanual didn't mentioned something like "caution do not put any living pet or baby inside .."

But for scopes ..

Sincerely yours

Dear Simdem57,
thank you very much for your detailed answer -- I'll verify the warrantly serial number and will ask to the importer!
Sincerely,
Firecrest
