2019 Glow worm survey

Findings attached - similar results to last year but they seem to have spread a little further along the Roman way (due south east).

Finally found time today to see the Linacres paddocks Little Owl , many thanks to Dave aka Woodchat for the directions, it was exactly where you said it would be .
Brilliant views , sat out in the open sunning himself.

A Common Snipe and a Green Sandpiper on the flooded patch near Linacre bridge this morning.
Cetti's Warbler singing between there and Mildenham.
Two Hobbies over Porter's Mill yesterday and near Knight's Grove on Friday.
Other species seen so far this weekend - Lesser and Common Whitethroats, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Nuthatches, Coal Tits, Treecreeper, Reed Warblers, 1 Swift and numerous Swallows and House Martins.

One Paited Lady on Friday.

A Spotted Flycatcher just west of Salwarpe village mid-morning. 2 Ravens over.

Great views of the Cetti's Warbler near Mildenham this morning. One Sand Martin with the hirundines.

Little Grebe on small pool between Chatley and Hawford

Two Whinchats perched on fence in paddocks behind Barnhall farm between Knight's Grove and the A449 - an adult and a juvenile.

A Yellow Wagtail flew over Sinton Lane earlier. Decent migrants at last.

Further species noted yesterday (1st Sept):

3 Yellowhammers Sinton Lane + 2 at Coney Meadow
Reed Warblers, Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaffs, Goldcrest, Grey Wagtails, Grey Herons, Treecreeper, House Martins, Swallows, Blackcaps, Linnets, Greenfinches, Mute Swans, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers.

A couple of Painted Lady's seen over the weekend plus a Ruddy Darter (on Friday).

Two Wheatears in the paddocks behind 'Topacres' - one first seen perched on wires.
The first Meadow Pipits of the autumn over Sinton Lane and near Hawford.
A Green Sandpiper and 2 Grey Wagtails on the muddy patch near Linacre bridge.
2 Peregrines perched on a pylon near Middleton Grange.
Little Grebe on small pool between Chatley and Hawford.
Two Kingfishers together near Hawford Mill.

Wheatear on ploughed field near Barnhall farm
60 - 70 Swallows around Moat Farm earlier plus a few House Martins and a Willow Warbler in the hedge.

Little Owl at Moat Farm and at Linacres paddocks (also there yesterday)
Little Grebe on the small pool between Chatley and Hawford.

Lesser Whitethroat near Linacre bridge on Saturday
Common Whitethroat near porter's Hill Farm on Sunday
Large flock of Linnets near Sinton lane
Yellowhammers along Sinton Lane
Still flocks of Swallows and Sand Martins
Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtails, Mistle Thrushes, Cormorants, many Meadow Pipits, Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, Buzzards, Coal Tits, Nuthatches, Green and great Spotted Woodpeckers.

A Peregrine caught a Pigeon near Droitwich Woods.

Now 2 Stonechats together - the other is less well marked - probably a younger male.

Large flock of House Martins over, a few Swallows and Meadow Pipits plus a Peregrine. 3 Yellowhammers.

3 Stonechats together on hedge between Barnhall Farm and Sinton Lane - 2 males and a female.

12+ Yellowhammers, 10 Mistle Thrushes, lots of Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Linnets, Chiffchaffs, Starlings and Blackcaps plus 2 Sparrowhawks along Sinton Lane.

Decent passage of House Martins and Swallows noted over the weekend. Meadow pipits seemed to be moving through in numbers also.

Other birds noted included Kingfisher, Grey wagtail, Coal Tit, Nuthatch, Goldcrests, Cormorants, Grey Heron, Reed buntings and most of the usual species.
