Peregrine Falcon disturbs Vodafone (1 Viewer)

Picture Picker
Vodafone engineers found that a female peregrine falcon is nesting by one of its transmitters in Southampton. The nest was discovered when the engineers went to investigate a fault. It is not known if the bird caused the fault. Of course the nest cannot be disturbed until the chicks have flown.

Full story here.

We had the same thing here (reported several years ago from Guntersville, Alabama with osprey). Fortunately, the birds did not interrupt service and the eggs fledged fine...and still do yearly. I suspect the tower wiring was 'birdproofed' in anticipation, as most are now. Nice to see a 'bird friendly multi-use facility'...they deserve a tax break or something.
