Hi, I'm not a bird watcher, but I wanted to share a bird I've seen, which according to a friend, is a Golden Pheasant and is rare.

I live just outside Brixham, Devon, this was just outside my house down a lane coming out of a hedge, iPhone pics

It IS a Golden Pheasant. It is an introduced species to ornament private gardens, estates and bird collections and has established feral breeding populations in several places. So yes, rare in that there aren't that many of them, but most birders don't get very excited about them! Nonetheless they are things of beauty and always a pleasure to see.

The only time i've seen one is in my neighbours garden, beautifull bird!

It was quite stunning, but considering I know little of birds, I thought it was a parrot
