Majahual, Yucatan, Mexico

January in Majahual, Yucatan, MX, on the coast, not far from Belize. I suspect it is a Common Black Hawk, but my perception was of a much larger hawk. I had photographed a juvenile Common Black Hawk earlier in the day.
Thank you, Jim

I am leaning to common black hawk due to the large amount of yellow on bill. Do you have any photos where you can see how far down the tail the wings are reaching?

Tail pattern looks good for Common Black Hawk, IMO.

Niels,

I don't have any photos good for primary extension/tail. But a better photo for the tail...

I believe that clinches it for Common black hawk.
