;)Can folk fill me in about Farmoor ? Not been before,so is the hide the best place to see birds ? Are there any particular do's or not !? What might be seen there, when (eg ) do Snow Geese sometimes appear ? I know one has to "log-in" at the Warden's office.....

Take a scope, if you have one - the birds can be distant on the basins but you can be rewarded with close views.

If you are short of time, walk the causeway from where you can scan both basins. If you have more time, the woods to the south have Marsh Tit as well as the (now) more common species.

Check the water treatment works - there have been Black Redstart there recently.

As Johnny says - check out the Farmoor Birding website!
