England - Robin nesting in 2 places in our garden (1 Viewer)

Hi there.

Just registered on this site as we are so excited by what we have seen today.

We live in Cambridgeshire, England and have seen a a pair of Robins making a nest in 2 places in our garden.

One location is in a shed that our daughter plays in with her outside toys. The robin has started leaving leaves in our sons bicycle helmet which hangs by the shed window. We have watched them throughout today flying in and out of the shed with bits and pieces in their beaks. One Robin is larger than the other.

The 2nd location is our brick built shed very close to the house. we keep our freezer in here with other bits and bobs and we use this shed frequently daily. I took a look and the Robin has made a nest on a shelf at the top of the shed on top of a paint pot. There is a start of a nest in a circular fashion made with leaves.

We wonder if this is the same Robin? We have been told the male makes the nest, sometimes more than one and then the female will choose which nest she likes the best. Is this correct?

Is the male larger?

How long will it take them to build the nest?

Any info to enlighten us would be appreciated.

Thanks
