Hi, I've been having a shufti for a good outdoor jacket. I bought a Keela Advance Falklands jacket size Medium in a store in Dublin, but took it back. I'd tried it on, but on trying it at home (and being subjected to hilarious guffaws by Mrs. S. and the Sanchettes), I realised that it was way too big. The sleeves extended way beyond my fingertips, and the body of the jacket was simply enormous. I ordered the Orkney 300 fleece online, thinking this would bulk it out a little, but this didn't work - it was still huge. So I took it back to the store and changed it for a really nice hiking jacket for Sanchette No.1. So for me, I bought a Keela Ottowa, size small, on the bay, and when that came it was too small!
Then in a store, I tried on a Paramo Pajaro, size Medium, and that was huge too. Currently on the Bay there's a CI Rover jacket, size Medium, but the seller says he's a 44" chest and it fits him. I'm a meagre 39", which I thought was medium but I'm not going to order a Small size in any of these jackets because as sure as bananas are bendy, that would be too small. Does anyone have any advice on the sizing of good quality outdoor jackets, that will be waterproof, windproof and comfortable? (Okay, I know there' s no such thing as 100% waterproof). Am I being punished for being medium, or is there something out there for me?
