Seawatching off Burghead Harbour Wednesday 19 Feb 2014 around 10:30, on the Moray Firth, Scotland when this little teaser popped into view. Suggestions range from Common Eider to imm Hooded Merganser.. me I'm no further forward! Nice to be challenged though :)

Wow, 5 months and no suggestions here?!

Going by the shape of the pale patch around the eye, I'd say it's a Long-tailed Duck with a loose feather.
