Nice / Pegomas (1 Viewer)

Lurking in the bushes is wrong.
Hi everyone

I'm flying to Nice and staying in Pegomas (near Cannes) for a few days in October. It looks like a beautiful part of the world!

Can anyone help me make best use of my time? I'll hire a little car so I'll have options.

The map shows the following places, but there is little about the bird life there on t'internet:

Parc naturel régional des Préalpes d'Azur
Lac de Saint-Cassien
Fondurane
The River Var

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:t:

A couple more places are on the agenda (although I'll have to pick and choose):

Belvedere & Mt Bego
Cap Gros

This is my provisional plan:

Day One
Fondurane Nature Reserve / Lac de Saint-Cassien

Day Two
Gorges du Verdon / La Palud sur Verdon

Day Three
Parc naturel régional des Préalpes d'Azur including Waterfalls of Saut du Loup, then onto Le Broc.

Day Four
Head back to Nice airport - possibly via Cap Gros, possibly via Saint-Jeannet, possibly via Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll post what I find when I return, in case it helps anyone else.

This is my provisional plan:

Day One
Fondurane Nature Reserve / Lac de Saint-Cassien

Quiet in terms of birds & humans.

Blue tit
Great Egret
Carrion Crow
Grey Heron
Pheasant
Grey Wagtail

There is a hide fairly near the south end of the bridge in the reserve. Otherwise there are lots of paths. I’d recommend a weekday if possible as it’s a good place for families and dogs.

Day Two
Gorges du Verdon / La Palud sur Verdon

Le Palud sur la Verdon is the gateway to the D23, route des cretes. Going clockwise (recommended) after 5 minutes there is a “belvedere “ or place to stop to admire the view. There were lots of Griffon Vultures quite close. It’s an awesome road with spectacular views, but there are places if you leave the road there are no barriers and huge drops. I’d also go to Point Sublime which is 10 mins by car and stunning (not for birds though)

Black Redstart
Griffin Vulture
White Wagtail
Chough
Magpie
Carrion Crow

Day Three

Rained so just went to the marina on the East side of Antibes.

Sandwich Tern
Indian Silverbill
Yellow-Legged Gull
Stock Dove
Ferral Pigeon
House Sparrow
Jackdaw
Magpie
