Hello everybody! I just joined this forum!

I'm currently in the middle of a writing assignment for a client of mine, and he's looking for information on finches (like the American Goldfinch). I'd like to know if anyone here can help me out with an introductory paragraph on finches; what common challenges are there for feeding finches and attracting them to your yard.

I look forward to know more about birding!

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

We're glad you found us and thanks for taking a moment to say hello. Please join in wherever you like ;)

As to your finches, the best way to draw them into your yard is to put feeders under tree branches so they have some where to fly to in case of a bird of prey coming around. My Goldfinches, House Finches and Purple Finches all love the Black oiled sunflower seeds and the sunflower hearts of the seed. Good luck!

Hi Wordsmith and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
