diatomaceous earth

Just out of curiosity, would diatomaceous earth be ok to sprinkle into nest box to help keep down insects?

I have used a similar product when I kept chickens - this was to control red mites- with no ill effects on the chickens. Would not nesting birds be their own insect control, simply by eating, or where you interested in mite control also??

Yes, mites, but also earwigs. We get a lot of them and I just think they're creepy. :)
