Hello,

During 15th August to 15th November me, Erik Hirshfeld, and Johan Elmberg, will be running a daily migration count project at Peniche, West Portugal.

The scope of this project is to document the numbers of seabirds migrating past Peniche with particular attention to the Critically Endangered Balearic Shearwater.

We are looking for experienced volunteers prepared to stay at least two weeks at Peniche during the period 15th August to 15th November 2015.

For those who can stay for four weeks we can offer free accomodations and flight tickets from several European countries. For those that only can stay for two weeks we can offer free accomodations.

Please visit the project website for more information, contacts and to volunteer:

Helder - fabulous counts! Like you highlight, the Manx count is astronomical! The Sooty is also off the charts! That all is so interesting - we've been looking at Cabo de São Vicente and no sign of this movement from here - we live in hope ;)

Hi Simon,

I believe that if there was persistent western winds, the birds would be pressed against our coast and pass along to Sagres. So the birds must have dispersed to the middle of the ocean. Good days will come down there ;).
