As I'm just putting together the taxonomy templates for the Pigeons and Doves I tried to find out where to put this species in. Were the closely related to Zenaida? Does anyone have any information about the taxonomic placement?

I've certainly always understood Ectopistes to be closely related to Zenaida. The AOU checklist (7th ed) places it between Zenaida and Columbina.
