Help Please! No Flash on Lumix FZ20 (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,
I'm having a few probs with the flash on my Lumix FZ20.
A new icon has appeared that looks like (external flash connected ) even though I haven't got one, I've tried everything but reset to get rid of it.
Only Exposure & Auto Bracket modes are displayed when pressing the 4 way button in an upward direction, the flash is forced off when the built in flash is opened!
Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated.

I have the FZ-20 as well. I can replicate the symbol like the one on p.81 if I either attach an external flash or insert a thin bit of card into the right side of the hot shoe on the spring and press it down.

As soon as the spring is released or the flash gun removed the camera external flash symbol goes.

Maybe worth checking that no lint/bit of something is pressing down on the spring and likewise try lifting it with something non-metallic.

If no use then I'd try a reset or remove the battery for 24 hrs which is what some other cameras needed to fully reset them.

Hi IanF,
Thanks for your suggestions.
I checked the hot-shoe for debris etc, all clear, and the spring and plunger works fine, no probs there.
So tried Reset, and the icons still there, looks like it's back to the shop!

Thanks, Alan
