Great day on the Northsea (1 Viewer)

On Sunday 28-09-2014 I went, together with a birdwatching colleague, on a daytrip on the Northsea. Because there were technical problems with the lock, we started with a short trip on the Oosterschelde in Zeeland (NL). There we saw Arctic Tern, Black-headed Gull, Caspian Gull, Common Eider, Common Kingfisher, Common Tern, Herring Gull, Oystercatcher and Sandwich Tern. Then we took a short walk on 'Neeltje Jans', where we saw Brambling, Barn Swallow, Common Pheasant, Grey Wagtail, Hedge Accentor, Magpie, Meadow Pipit, Northern Wheatear, Song Thrush, Stock Dove and Wood Pigeon. At about 10:30 we finally passed the lock and started our trip at sea. A guy from the tour company was constantly throwing chum in the water to attract the birds. We hoped to see Northern Gannet and we did. We also saw Common Gull, Yellow-legged Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Little Gull, Kittiwake and the major attraction of the day was a Pomerine Skua. Besides the birds we saw seven Harbour Porpoise and two Grey Seal. On the way home we drove along the Brouwersdam and saw two Grey Seal and a Harbour Seal. There was hardly any wind and the day was mostly sunny. We saw plenty of birds and other animals so we had a great day.

You certainly saw a good variety of birds and great to see the seals and porpoise too.
