Barred Warbler? (1 Viewer)

It was definately a warbler, not a Nightingale...
It had a hard clicking call, as well as the standard "chaiir" alarm call from Barred Warbler.
The bill seems right for Barred, but the legs are definately a pale pinkish colour.

We came to the conclusion of a juvenile Barred

Any suggestions welcome

Interesting bird Sim, It does have some qualities of Barred warbler, cant help but think there is something odd about it. It does look a little nightingale like, bill looks too thick for an acro though. Hopefully some people with more experience of juv Barred will reply!

Why it isn't an Acrocephalus warbler?

because of that thick bill (which has only great reed but its is much longer etc. a totally different bird). and yes, mr. sim, i can't think of any alternative to juvenile barred warbler on those pics. especially if it did the characteristic barred warbler rattle!

Thanks for the replies. At first I was very confused about this bird (and still am, largely!). It is definately a warbler, and the bill made me think Great Reed at first, but no other features fit at all really.

I think it's a Barred to be honest. There's not really anything else it could be. The bill is not long enough for Great Reed, and the peaked crown also fits Barred, but the pale legs have me on this one! Neither Great Reed nor Barred have pale legs...
