do most of the passing birds rest on the rig itself,or do the majority fly by.
I would have thought particularly the small stuff (chafinch!), must stop for a breather. I have a mate who worked on gas rigs years ago and he told me ripping yarns about exhausted gulls sometimes crash landing in arduous weather.
Mind you he told me the same stories about the helicopters
