Status of sabyi Guineafowl in Morocco (1 Viewer)

It is generally believed to be extinct since the 1970s, with possible sightings of sabyi-like domestic birds until the 2000s. It is one of endemic Moroccan bird subspecies gone extinct in the last decades. Pretty sad that so much biodiversity goes extinct at the doors of the EU.

However, tarsiger.com lists a sighting from January 8th 2004: 'Fes Morocco. 2 birds (ssp sabyi). The place is situated north of the Middle Atlas ca. 20 km from the river Sebou and less than 100 km southeast from the famous Mamora forest where this species is (was?) considered to occur. (source: Tarsiger team).'

I wonder if this record was followed, to verify and possibly re-find and protect the birds?

As far as I know, this record has not been submitted to the Moroccan Rare Birds Committee.
