Vultures sp., India in December (1 Viewer)

One of the most incredible stops of this holiday season for me was Corbett National Park, the tiger reserve in the sub-Himalayan belt of India's Uttarakhand. In between jeep safaris one day, we took lunch at our hotel along the Kosi River, and I wandered down to the river to see what birds were around. Four large vultures were soaring off by the far distant mountains to the east, too far to confirm ID. Hopefully some of you may have thoughts. Photos from December - apologies for the poor quality in these cropped images. Thank you!

The images are too small and indistinct to make out any detail. I would say a couple of the birds look too large and broad-winged for anything other than Himalayan, but as no detail is visible, it's not possible to be certain IMO.

Hi Alex,

Just as an aside. I was leading a group in December and we visited Kosi River on 3 different days. The only gyps we observed were Himalayan whilst we were there. We didn't have Eurasian Griffon anywhere in the north, but we did have a decent handful of Himalayan and a few Cinereous.

I can't add anything to what others have said with regards to the images, sorry.

Stu
