Wren busy nest building (1 Viewer)

I have a metal Flamingo in the garden which has a hole in the belly due to rust. Wren has decided to build a nest in it.
Problem is that it is very low down to the ground and I have two dogs. Had to make a decision as to whether discourage the Wren, move the Flamingo or make it a safe place (dog proof)

Found a couple of sheets of wire mesh and fashioned a cage to put around the Flamingo, Wren wasn't bothered at all so hopefully all will go well.

She is still adding stuff to the nest for the second day.

Den, that looks like it is a good solution to all concerned. She didn’t seem bothered at all.

Good idea. best to let them get on with it. Wrens will generally build several nests and then the female will choose one so if she thinks it is not safe they will simply use a different one

Update on the nest building, had a few days of not much sign then Wren reappeared about 3 days ago and spent some time singing its little head off. No one answered so no sign the next day.

Back with a vengeance yesterday...……….
