A reason to buy the Nikon EDG (1 Viewer)

RJM

Don't Worry, Be Happy!
Saw this new dSLR zoom adapter, the FSA-L2, at the Tokyo Bird Festival today. Still in development but appears to work well and was easy to use though like everything EDG is BIG. The focal range went from 500mm to 1750mm too!

cheers,
Rick

Ah! So THAT'S the reason to buy an EDG.

Like most everyone, I'll be very interested in how these new Nikon scopes and accessories perform but it strikes me that Nikon is swimming against the tide with this stuff. Many makers are acknowledging the merits of compactness and low weight and here Nikon is producing these bruisers. :eek!:

This is looking good. Would love to get one, but the budget is blown for another year at least. The only porter I would need is in a glassB :)

very interesting, did they give any idea of the price on the photo adapter? I would love to see this scope, did you get a chance to look through the scope?

Like I said, the adapter "still in development." I would assume the price would be as much as, if not more than the current FSA-L1.

And yes, I have looked through the EDG scopes a few times now. The views look very good. But the old ED82/EDIII is also optically excellent. Ergonomically the EDG sucks and the only significant "upgrade" it offers over the old scopes is their substancially higher price.

cheers,
Rick

This would be alternative for me instead of getting the 500mm F4, doesn't matter with manual focus hahaha as my friend said, lighter and cheaper than 600mm F4 ! ;)

At least can get more reach than 600mm with the FSA-L2 :king:

With the current technology of DLSR especially D90 and D300, increasing the ISO to get good shutter speed while shooting in the rainforest plus video mode if light too low, I'm looking forward for this FSA-L2.

And bayonet type mount for faster switch for eyepiece and adapter with the new EDG, means I have to save more this year :t:
