New website for Qatar Birds (1 Viewer)

Just to announce a new website launch by the Qatar Bird Records Committee, www.QatarBirds.org. To quote the original announcement:

"The site is, hopefully, self-explanatory. We have deliberately kept its scope limited, with a three-fold purpose:

1. To encourage the submission of records to QBRC and to make accessible the up-to-date Qatar List
2. To provide basic useful information for visiting birdwatchers
3. To provide a platform for photographers, researchers and publishers to advertise and link to their work, and for birdwatchers to link to their blogs and albums

All of the above are, of course, in the context of furthering the aims of wild bird and habitat conservation in Qatar and the Middle East.

It is not our intention that the QBRC site should become an all-encompassing repository, rather that it acts as a highly visible portal for those seeking information and images relating to Qatar specifically, and the Middle East generally. Hence we welcome your suggestions of sites to which we might link, as well as contributions from resident and visiting photographers. All content suggestions will be warmly welcomed.

We are pleased to acknowledge support from the Ornithological Society of the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia (OSME) and the Qatar Natural History Group (QNHG) for the site and its objectives. Thanks are also due to those who have contributed to the site thus far with their comments and content.

Please feel free to forward this email to those who you know would be interested in QBRC, its work and website.

We look forward to receiving your feedback and input to help us improve the site before it is launched publicly. Thank you.
