Herring Gull Age (1 Viewer)

I would just like to check if I'm correct with my ageing of the two (separate) Gulls photographed in October - Judging by the buff feather edging amongst other things would I be correct in ageing these Herring Gulls as 1st winter (1CY) ?

Thanks

Pic #1 shows a 2nd cy, or 1st summer/2nd winter if you prefer. All of its wing coverts and tertials have been replaced already as part of the post-juvenile moult. In Herring Gulls this tends to happen during the spring and summer in their second year (coming up to 1yr old). The second bird looks to be a 1st cy/1st winter.
