Tuesday October 12, 2004:
SILVER PHEASANTS have been seen all year at Hiquebran Road in Nanaimo.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders in the 3100 block of Granite Park Road and along Broughton Place in Sunshine Ridge in north Nanaimo.
Monday October 11, 2004:
Six SNOW GEESE were seen on the Holden Creek side of the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

"RARE BIRD ALERT"
An AMERICAN AVOCET along with an EURASIAN WIGEON and a BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen and photographed at Whitty's Lagoon in Victoria.
Sunday October 10:
An AMERICAN DIPPER was spotted at the mouth of the Millstone River in downtown Nanaimo.
Saturday October 09:
A RED-TAILED HAWK, forty COMMON MERGANGERS, and a PEREGRINE FALCON seen on the north side of the Englishman River Estuary.
Two ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders along Burkley Place in Nanaimo.
"Birding on the HIGH SEAS" ---- Seabird Tour from Beachcomber Marina to the Little Qualicum River and back aboard the 41’ MV The Terry Wayne.
Observers: Eleven Sunday birders and the crew of Beachcomber Excursions.
Highlites: We came upon a raft of Pacific Loons and one Western Grebe at the first of our trip. A little further on three majestic Western Grebes appeared for great looks. At Lasqueti Island we watched as a kettle of ten very tardy Turkey Vultures tried to lift off the island and head south.
For the last half of the trip we danced with The Terry Wayne on the waves as we made our way on rough seas. We were rewarded with the sighting of a LEACH’S STORM PETREL about a third of the way between Lasqueti Island and Dorcas Point! We had awesome looks at the STORM PETREL as it turned and twisted within 50 meters of the boat.
