A toughie. My first thoughts were Green Woodpecker - maybe a juvenile fluffed up a bit?

unlikely if the pic was taken lately my first thoughts were of goldfinch

I'm not sure but my initial impresion is Chaffinch, although it could be Goldfinch. P.

Looks like a small ball with a stuck up tail and a fairly slender bill. So I'm voting for Wren.

Maybe I'm seeing things but seems to have a red face so I'm with the Goldfinch faction.

Wishful thinking to be able to secure an id from this angle I imagine. To me it looks most like a fledgling little tern - which it quite clearly isn't!

My initial reaction was Siskin or Goldfinch. However, the tail seems to have straight end, which is un finch like. The beak appears to have a slight lower mandible curve when the picture is blown up. It's one of these where we need more info about location, apparent size in comparison to a familiar species, any movement seen (jizz) etc.
