Removing eye cups on 8x20 BC (1 Viewer)

I have a pair of Leica 8x20 BC that have to be one of the sweetest little binocs ever. But after going back to eye glasses and getting older, the eye relief is right on the edge of being able to see the entire view. If I could remove the pull up eye cups, I could gain a bit more eye relief, even though I'd sacrifice losing the lanyard.

I've carefully tugged on them and they won't unscrew or pull off. Just wondering if this is a do-it-yourself project or if I'd have to send them in to Leica? Thanks.

Not a good idea, you will expose the bare lens and so either scratch the ocular lens or
your eyeglasses. So either way get used to them, or take off your glasses when viewing.

I had this Leica, and they are a nice one, but they are carefully designed and no room to modify.
