I live in Jefferson County, NY, 10 miles from Canada. For the past 20 years each spring has found Grackles nesting in the vines on the cow barn, Barn swallows in the manger and starlings in very cavity in every building.

This year the grackles and starling were t the feeder but have moved on and the barn swallows never showed up.

Lack of food or global warming?

Just noticed your post. I live midway between Clayton and Cape, and there are plenty of grackles, far more than our share of starlings, and barn swallows living in the boat house(s) across the bay.
