I am new to this but have two northern red flickers nesting in a tree close to our deck in the back yard, very fascinating watching them. Would love to learn more about their behavior and patterns etc. I live close to the Rocky Mountains in Alberta.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

We’re glad you found us and please join in wherever you like ;)

I love the Flickers and it's important that you don't go too close to the nest as the parents will desert the eggs.

Here's a link to our Opus page on the Flicker. Enjoy ;)

Hi Kathland and a warm welcome from me too

You can find out more about the Northern Flicker here in our Opus article. It sounds like you're having some fun watching them!

It is a bit overwhelming at first but I promise you it does get easier ;)

Your best bet is to click on the "Forums" tab in the upper left hand corner of each page and just scroll down to see all the sub-forums and then you can start investigating them ;)
