Kessingland Filter Beds/ Sewage Works Near Lowestoft Suffolk

The filter beds are located in Kessingland Village Grid ref TM533856 Landranger Map 156 Take the A12 into Kessingland Village & turn into Whites Lane. Carry on east to church road for half a mile before parking in the free carpark opposite Green Lane. Walk onto the path behind the car park past the rear of Coopers drive straight onto Marsh lane & the filter beds. Once here you will see a high bank climb up here (carefully) to view the filter beds. In spring expect White, Yellow & Pied Wagtails, Meadow & Tree Pipits & many Warblers along the hedgerows. Ina Autumn late Hirundines can be found well into November, Pied Flycatchers in August & overwintering Chiffchaffs & Firecrests.

Visit the nearby wasteland opposite the gates for finches & other Passerines.
Walk south to the anglers lake for wintering Scaup & sometimes Merlin. At the end of this track you can walk a circular route along the Kessingland Levels which can produce anything at all times of the year.

Toilets & a café are located at Kessingland Beach.
