Another ID, Guangzhou, China (1 Viewer)

Here's another bird from my recent visit to Guangzhou, China. Again poor quality screen grabs from a video.

I agree with Japanese/Manchurian Bush Warbler. A male, based on the size and well-marked head pattern.

The taxonomy of these in south China is somewhat confused. Based on Hong Kong records there may be two taxa involved - canturians and borealis - but the separation of these is still a bit unclear. It currently seems that most or all are canturians.

This taxon has been moved between species over recent years since the split was proposed and different checklists treat it in different ways. Most recently, IOC has both borealis and canturians in Manchurian BW, whereas eBird/Clements includes canturians in Japanese but splits borealis as Manchurian. Like I said, it's confusing!
