Hello from Chicago

Hi, everyone. My name is Marilyn, and I'm a lifelong Chicagoan who's just crazy about birds.

I'm a writer and editor by trade, and long ago, I was the coeditor of the Chicago Audubon Society's newsletter. Nowadays, I just like to go out birding on my own or with friends, and, of course, doing the Spring Count every year.

We have such amazing habitat here, with Lake Michigan and the now world-renowned Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, which was little more than a dump when I first started birding there.

I think birders are the nicest people in the world, and I look forward to talking with you and sharing experiences.

I'm sharing a photo of a bobolink from a bird walk at the Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in northern Illinois.

Welcome!

Indeed, Illinois has it's wildlife and outdoor treasures. The Morton Arboretum near Glen Ellyn is a fave.
Grew up near there...my dentist was in Skokie. :)

I enjoy the Arboretum, too. Was there for the troll exhibit, which was great fun. I like to bird Skokie Lagoons and Chicago Botanic Garden.
