A good field guide of shorebird? (1 Viewer)

The best shorebird guide that I've seen is The Shorebird Guide (my review). However, it is specifically for North American species. But I would imagine it would still be of some use for you.

This thread and this one might also help.

I wasn't very impressed with the Message and Taylor guide mentioned in the latter thread. But pretty much everything pales in comparison with The Shorebird Guide in my eyes.

Hi Paul, do try 'Waders of Europe, Asia and North America' by Stephen Message and Don Taylor It's one of the Helm Field Guides, ISBN number 0-713605290-X No photos but plenty of drawings. Good info in the written bits on confusion species. Nice little section at the back giving flight id recognition help. Sort of tables with wing feature on vertical scale and tail feature on horizontal so you can quickly check things. It's a paperback and not too big so will slip into a large pocket.

'Waders of Europe, Asia and North America' is pretty compact too, though not as small as the average field guide. Page size is some 20-25cm tall.
